With all due respect, I'm sure a lot of work went into making this game as a whole (and dividing the parts on newgrounds). The dialog with all the characters are fairly accurate and feel natural which is worth mentioning, but when it comes to choosing dialog boxes, although it does affect the dialog, you're not left with that specific fate and you're forced to choose the rest of the boxes to progress. Different outcomes of the players choices are important, and I feel like I sort of end up in the same place no matter what.
I do think the "Korra being in crippling dept" idea is interesting, but often, the player pretty much comes off as manipulative throughout with dialog such as "this is all going according to plan" and "you're not taking care of the dept, so you owe me a paid blowjob". There's this cactus drink that's apparently addictive, and the player is literally using it on Korra to intoxicate and take advantage of her. It's hard and scary to play as a main character like that. I just couldn't, even in an erotic context. Degrading, gaslighting and sexually assaulting someone for the sake of sales and getting that person out of debt is just not a good narrative to get across. Even if this is historically accurate behavior, the execution and portrayal still comes off as “this is supposed to be hot” instead of “I’m hurting this person for my benefit”. The player's intentions may seem nice initially, but it's actually just gross. With Korra being the main victim, she feels more worthy of being the playable character imo. As a sexual corruption and porn actress survivor I guess.
As much as I don't mind the idea here, I don't like to imagine people justifying the player's actions. Varrick's the one that unleashed the incredibly large and spiteful debt on Korra in the first place and is narcissistic, so he also sucks, but it’s just hard for me to be the player.
I could already see the negative reactions and honestly, do what you want with that. I'm simply just giving my honest opinion. I just hope any player is aware of what they're playing and not just ignoring unhealthy sexual relationships and prioritizing their pleasure over the game itself.
